Sidney Crosby's connection to Montreal is heating up trade buzz around the NHL, and now Elliotte Friedman has opened up on the potential move.
Over the past few days, talks have picked up around Sidney Crosby, and while it's unclear whether or not he will ever push the Penguins to make a trade, he's
opened the door to the possibility.
In recent comments, Crosby addressed how he grew up a Canadiens fans, and given how much interest the team have in him, speculation around the National Hockey League is certainly heating up.
Elliotte Friedman reveals the ball is in Crosby's court
Recently, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman addressed the entire situation, revealing that while there's a chance this could happen, it's all up to Crosby to make the decision, as he likely isn't happy with the direction the organization is heading in.
This is not going to be the Penguins' call. This is going to be Crosby's call. As he says in the interview, he hasn't gone there yet. Okay, I don't think it happens before the Olympics, after the Olympics, if they're out of it, that's where I kind of look at it and see, 'Does this happen?'
Even at 36-years of age last season, Crosby dominated not only the NHL with 92 points, but also the tough competition of the Four Nations Face Off, and it's led to those around him wanting him to push for another shot at the Stanley Cup.
Unfortunately, that's simply not going to happen in Pittsburgh, and as Friedman states, it's all on Crosby to force the Penguins hand, and if he does that, we could be in for a blockbuster trade at some point in the next 12 months.
