Erik Karlsson Finally Drops First Clues About His Future in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have plenty of questions to answer over the summer, and one of the biggest revolves around veteran Erik Karlsson, who could be on the way out after two solid seasons with the team.

Despite performing well, the contract and the age are major concerns for Penguins fans and perhaps the front office, with suggestions that a rising salary cap could help them offload the veteran much, much easier.

For the first time, the veteran blue liner has now addressed his future with the Penguins, and while he hasn't revealed whether he wants to stay or go, he knows that it's a business and what will happen will happen.

At 34-years of age, Karlsson is still very productive, posting 11 goals and 53 points last season, but with the team looking to pivot towards a re-tool for the future, there's a good chance that we see the team attach an asset to him to move the remainder of his contract.

However, Karlsson reiterated that his goal was still to win a Stanley Cup, and after frustrations late in the season over the Penguins positioning, perhaps a trade to the right team could be the move for the veteran.

Whatever happens, happens, and that appears to be the sentiment from the veteran blue liner who is playing for his third career team in the NHL, and over the coming months, we will see how his future plays out in the league.
