Tonight, Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin spoke to the media and made a definitive statement about his future with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Evgeni Malkin is in the final season of his current contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins and his future with the team remains incredibly unclear.
Reports at the beginning of the season indicated that this season could be Malkin's last in the NHL before he returns to Russia to finish out his professional career.
Tonight, during a new interview, Malkin directly addressed the rumors about his future and whether or not he plans to spend his future with the Penguins.

During a recent interview with RG Media, Malkin was asked how he feels about his future in Pittsburgh.
Malkin admitted that he is unsure whether he will play in the NHL next season but confirmed that if he does play next season it will be with the Penguins.
Sometimes you can imagine it - for example, if you win the Cup. But again, a lot depends on things I can't control. We'll talk after the season. There are many details. What if the team struggles or misses the playoffs, and big trades start? Of course, I don't see myself in another jersey - not in Florida, not in Colorado, anywhere.
While Malkin's future is uncertain he would like to return to Pittsburgh if GM Kyle Dubas will have him back but if not he will leave it all out on the ice to win the Penguins one more Stanley Cup.
We missed the playoffs and didn't play our best hockey. Before this season, I told myself: if this is the last one, I just need to enjoy it. Not pay attention to negativity or the stories about trades. I come to practice and try to enjoy every day. If it ends up being my last season, it's ok. If I play well and we agree on one or two more years, that would be great.
With Malkin wanting to keep his focus on this season, a deal will likely be delayed until the offseason.
However, now that Malkin has declared his desire to play next season it will likely start dialogue between the two sides so a deal can eventually get done to extend his career.
