Penguins' Tristan Jarry gives honest update on lower-body injury and where his recovery stands
Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry has been sidelined with a lower-body injury, and he spoke to reporters today to give an honest update on his situation.
Jarry started practicing on Tuesday and appears to be on the right track; this opposes the issue with the lower body that had lingered throughout the season after the outdoor game at Boston in 2022-23.
What the previous injury has taught Tristan Jarry
That previous injury kept him in and out of the starting position for months. Looking back on this experience, the fact that it may take this long for Jarry to recover doesn't faze him anymore.
His injury took place on Nov. 3 in Toronto, with the recovery time expected to be at least three weeks; this meant that the earliest that he would be able to make it back would hopefully be next week.
He took part today in the first full practice with the team and said that he had a positive experience.
"I guess I would be on schedule," Jarry said. "Obviously, they have a plan in what they're going to do, and I adhere to that plan. So I think it's just going from a day-by-day standpoint, seeing how I feel and just working toward that."
Before getting hurt a few weeks ago, Jarry had actually made a nice comeback after the hard luck of the last season.
Why this season's injury was a tough pill to swallow for Tristan Jarry
The Penguins, on the other hand, have not made the playoffs in the last three years, although their first 19 games of the season have been very encouraging.
At the moment, they are leading their division with 24 points and have just returned home after accumulating three out of four points in Sweden vs. the Nashville Predators.
As to when Jarry will return, he understands that this is left entirely up to the discretion of the management of the Penguins' coaching staff. No doubt, however, that patience will still be required on both sides.
