Evgeni Malkin reunites with Penguins franchise legend ahead of the team's game against the Dallas Stars

Evgeni Malkin has been a franchise icon with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the past two decades, and in that time, he's experienced immense success, both in the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

While many focus on teammates like Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang, over that time he has played with some all-time greats and players that will be remembered for a long time in Pittsburgh.

One of those players is Sergei Gonchar, who played in Pittsburgh between 2005 and 2010, hoisting the Stanley Cup with the team as they won the first title in the Crosby/Malkin era.

Post retirement, Gonchar has gone into coaching, spending the past few seasons with Vancouver, but after departing following the 2024/25 season, he has relocated permanently to Dallas.

Now, Malkin took advantage of that, as he reunited with his former teammate ahead of the Penguins matchup against the Dallas Stars, with the team social media snapping a great photo of the two veterans.

This photo will bring back plenty of memories for Penguins fans as the young team built and built themselves into Stanley Cup contenders behind a young Malkin/Crosby, and with veterans like Gonchar to lead the way, they had immense success.

It's unclear if Gonchar ever plans to take up a role in the Penguins organization, as he has plenty of connections around the NHL, but this simple photo is enough to bring back plenty of memories for Penguins fans.
