Eveni Malkin's future in the NHL is clearly coming to an end, and now, a top insider has revealed when his career with the Penguins will likely be over.
After a stellar two decades in the NHL, much has been made of
Evgeni Malkin's future in the league, and during the 2024/25 campaign, he commented on that potential retirement.
While he didn't address his future beyond this summer, Malkin did reveal that he's not going to retire this off-season, and even if he doesn't retire next off-season, he'll never play for a team that's not the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Now, a top insider has revealed his future beyond 2025/26, noting that is more likely than not that the Russian icon's NHL career will come to an end after next season, with the 38-year old's contract coming up at that time.
Through his illustrious NHL career, Malkin has won three Stanley Cups with the Penguins while also tallying an incredible 514 goals and 1,346 over an amazing 1,213 games while also picking up one Hart Trophy.
In that time, he's become a beloved icon in Pittsburgh alongside
Sidney Crosby, but at 38-years of age, he's clearly slowing down, and whether or not he heads back to Russia to play in the KHL or officially retires, it's more likely than not that 2025/26 will be his final season in the NHL.
When it's all said and done, he's likely to have his jersey hung from the rafters in Pittsburgh and will likely end up in the Hockey Hall of Fame, and with all of that behind him, he can head into retirement incredibly proud of the career he had in the NHL.
