Five players have hit NHL waivers today, including one from a rival of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the Carolina Hurricanes waived Juha Jaaska.
Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman completed a cap dump trade in February, trading Ville Husso to the Anaheim Ducks, but his stay in California appears to be short-lived.
Alexandar Georgiev won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche
In terms of Georgiev, he is a Stanley Cup Champion with the Colorado Avalanche in 2022, and was later traded to the San Jose Sharks.
He ended up on waivers in 2025, where the Buffalo Sabres claimed him, and he's now in search of another NHL home; either that, or he will be AHL-bound if no teams claim him.
In addition to these goaltenders, the Carolina Hurricanes, a rival of the Penguins, waived Juha Jaaska.
Forward Sammy Blais and goaltender
Cayden Primeau were brought into the fold. Primeau, who was once seen as the future of Montreal's crease, had spent his entire career with the Canadiens but had never been in a settled position.
As recently as last season, the 26-year-old netminder played the majority of his year with the AHL's Laval Rocket, where he earned a .927 save percentage and 1.96 goals against average in 26 games total.
He did manage to appear in 11 games for the Canadiens, but had a very bad .836 save percentage in those games, which likely led to his demise.
