Flames Star Rasmus Andersson May Be Perfect Opportunity to Replace Kris Letang

For the past few years, the Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled to get offensive consistency out of their blue line, and while they should be looking to the future, there's always a chance that this team looks to land a veteran talent.

One piece that they could potentially look to add is Calgary's Rasmus Andersson, a player that is clearly on the way out this summer, and with one year left on his deal, he's someone that the Penguins could get and extend to potentially build around for years to come.

While he dropped to 39 and 31 points over the last two years, Andersson was at his best in 2022/23, tallying a career high 50 points, and and with 31 goals over the last three seasons, he's clearly someone that can get hot and help his team out offensively from the blue line.

Not only that, but he's incredibly tough, and given his close relationship with Erik Karlsson, there's no doubting that he'd fit in with the likes of Crosby and Malkin, as he revealed that he played the final stretch of the Flames season with a broken fibula.

On paper, Andersson's age (28) could hold the Penguins back from trading for him and also handing him a long-term deal, but with the pieces there to win now, if the team could land a top name in free agency and make a move to get Andersson, there's no doubting that he'd fit in well with this core.
