For the past few years, Jack Campbell has bounced around the NHL from Toronto to Edmonton and eventually to Detroit, but now the veteran goaltender remains a free agent.
The 33-year old signed for the Detroit Red Wings a year ago, but couldn't make it past their AHL affiliate given the depth there, but with a 2.91 GAA for the Grand Rapids Griffins, he showed flashes of the player he once was for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Unfortunately, after signing a big deal with the Edmonton Oilers on the back of his promising seasons in Toronto, he completely fell apart, posting a GAA above 3.40 and a save percentage below .890 in both of his seasons with the team, so while he may not be a starter in the league anymore, if the Penguins want a reliable backup or a veteran in the AHL, he may be a solid choice for them.
