This afternoon news has broken that former Pittsburgh Penguins 2nd rounder Daniel Sprong has been traded in the KHL after a career resurgence.

Daniel Sprong was once a promising player for the Pittsburgh Penguins spending his first four seasons of professional hockey in the Penguins organization.
When he was drafted Sprong was expected to be a key piece to play alongside Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin in the top-six.
However, Sprong struggled to separate himself during his time with the Penguins playing over 40 games in Pittsburgh before being moved to Anaheim and then bouncing around the rest of the NHL.
His run in North America came to an end this season when Sprong signed in the KHL with CSKA Moskva.
Upon his arrival in Russia, Sprong thrived tallying 31 points in 29 games leading a talented Moskva team.
However, new reports have confirmed that Sprong is on the move and will now be traded to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

According to multiple reports, CSKA has decided to part ways with their leading scorers but the reasons remain unclear.
In return for Sprong, CSKA will receive financial compensation a common occurrence in the KHL.
With this new move, it remains to be seen whether Sprong can keep up his positive momentum and earn another NHL opportunity.
If his production falls off in his new home we could see Sprong struggle to find other opportunities in top leagues around the world.
As he continues his career it will be interesting to see if Sprong gets another NHL opportunity or if he fades away as a player overseas.
