The Penguins recalled Rafael Harvey-Pinard from their AHL affiliate today, and he could make his team's debut after signing as a free agent in the summer.

Rafael Harvey-Pinard was recalled from the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today, giving Pittsburgh added depth as the team prepares to face the Calgary Flames in a few hours.
Harvey-Pinard has spent the entire 2025-26 season in the AHL, where he recorded seven goals and six assists in 32 games.

The honor that Rafael Harvey-Pinard received last week in the AHL

Last week, he was named the AHL Player of the Week for Dec. 28 after totaling four points, via two goals and two assists, in two games following the Holiday break, helping Wilkes-Barre/Scranton maintain first place in the Atlantic Division as well as the Eastern Conference.
Known for his energy and two-way play, Harvey-Pinard provides flexibility for the Penguins' lineup, particularly as the team navigates several injuries.

Why Rafael Harvey-Pinard's call-up gives Penguins coaches more options

His call-up gives the coaching staff options to rotate lines more effectively in today's game if they decide to insert him.
The 24-year-old forward, from Saguenay, Que., was drafted in the seventh round, 201st overall, by the Montreal Canadiens back in 2019. He spent his entire NHL career with Montreal, where he scored 17 goals and added 14 assists in 84 games.
The Canadiens did not resign him, so he then inked a one-year, $775,000 contract with Pittsburgh this past July as a free agent.
Harvey-Pinard's recall marks a key opportunity for the energetic forward to make an impact right away at the NHL level and provide the Penguins with a versatile option for their forward group.
