Former Penguins forward Anthony Angello has decided to call it quits on his professional hockey career, despite being only 30 years old.

Per his Instagram page, former Penguins forward Anthony Angello has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Angello was a fifth-round selection in 2014 and played all 31 of his NHL games with the Penguins.
Angello also joked that he would complete his degree from Cornell University, despite being the ripe age of 30. While 30 may seem "old" for school degrees, it is definitely young for a hockey player to stop competing.
"The time has finally come to hang the skates up. Hockey is a beautiful game that I gave everything to and wow was it ever generous in return. It's given me friends, memories, and experiences to last a life time. It's allowed me to chase and accomplish childhood dreams. It gave me the privilege of being apart of a team that strives for something bigger than each person. I'd like to thank my friends and family for the constant support, my girlfriend for the unconditional love, but most importantly my teammates in every locker room who made each day a blessing. That was one hell of a ride. Now, back to school to finish my Cornell University degree at the ripe age of 30. And yes, I'm still a free agent for beer league."

Anthony Angello Only Managed 5 Points in His NHL Career

The 31 games at the NHL level that were played by Angello spanned across parts of three seasons from 2019-20 through 2021-22. He managed to score just three goals and a total of five points in his brief NHL career.
He spent last season in the AHL, splitting time between Milwaukee and Syracuse, where he tallied 11 goals and 13 assists for a total of 24 points over 60 total games.
We wish Angello the very best in whatever he chooses to do next with his life, and yes, that includes even studying for his degree.
