Frank Seravalli Reveals Rick Tocchet to Receive Mega Offer
Rick Tocchet is the hottest name remaining on the NHL's Head Coach market, and now, Frank Seravalli has revealed new details about his potential next contract.
The Head Coach market is heating up, and after Joel Quenneville was announced as the new Head Coach of the Anaheim Ducks, the spots are becoming more and more limited for coaches around the league.
The hottest name among all of those potential coaches is Rick Tocchet, who has drawn interest from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as likely all the other remaining teams with a Head Coach vacancy (besides Vancouver, of course).
Now, Frank Seravalli has given his latest update on the situation, and while we're no closer to finding out which bench he'll be behind in 2025/26, Seravalli did reveal a potential mega offer that could completely reset the pay scale for coaches in the NHL.

When it comes to Tocchet, I think he's interviewed and been offered in Seattle, I think he's interviewed with the Flyers, I think the Pittsburgh Penguins are interested and I think the Boston Bruins are interested.
I'm going to project that Tocchet is on at least a five-year deal and north of $6 million per year.

That potential deal would slightly surpass the five-year, $25 million offer from the Canucks to stay on as Head Coach, but with question marks over the roster built there, it's easy to see why he walked away.
Ultimately, it's likely that Tocchet becomes the highest paid coach in NHL history given the interest and the potential bidding war for him, and while it's unclear right now where he ends up, it will be a move that defines the landscape of coaching in the NHL for quite some time.
