Heartbreaking News as Longtime Pittsburgh Reporter Passes Away

Long-time Pittsburgh sports reporter Rich Emert has sadly passed away.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have had a tough season on the ice, but off-ice tragedies have not made things any better.
Earlier this year, beloved former play-by-play announcer Mike Lange passed away, breaking the hearts of Penguins fans who grew up listening to him.
Lange was a cherished part of the team's community made evident by all the heartwarming gestures we saw after his passing.
Even Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan paid tribute to the late broadcaster.
Now another member of the Pittsburgh sports community has sadly joined Lange on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
That would be long-time sports journalist Rich Emert. Emert was best known for covering high school sports, but he also was involved in the professional leagues, especially the NFL where he covered the Steelers during their prime years in the 1970s.
"Mr. Emert was best known for his voluminous knowledge and extensive coverage of high school athletics, but he also covered the Steelers during their Super Bowl dynasty years of the 1970s and served as a sports editor. He worked for the Beaver County Times, Pittsburgh Press, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Valley News Dispatch and Tribune-Review."
News of Emert's passing has spread quickly around the city's journalist circles, with many other reporters paying their respects to him on social media.
Rich will be remembered by his friends and family including his wife Linda, daughter Jennifer, son Matthew, and his sisters Karen and Jo-Ann. He will be deeply missed by all of them.
