Sidney Crosby will captain Team Canada into the 2026 Olympics, and while many believe it's his farewell, the Penguins star may have his eyes set on 2030 too.

Sidney Crosby's NHL career has been one that so many growing up across Canada would dream of, as the Penguins captain has won three Stanley Cups over his two decade long career so far.
However, it's the Olympic gold that still defines him, as many point to the golden goal as one of the greatest moments in hockey history, and now, 16 years later, he heads into the 2026 Olympic Games hoping for glory once again.

Why Crosby's Career Still Defies Age and Expectations

Most people on that team have come and gone thus far, but for Crosby, he remains strong, tallying an impressive 94 point campaign in 2024/25, meaning that he's likely still got years of playing at his best.
Now the question remains, can the Penguins captain go around again in 2030 when he'll be 42 years of age? According to some, camp is feeling like a farewell tour on the international stage for Crosby, but another go around can't be ruled out.
«I'm just grateful for the chance to still be competing and having the opportunity to do this. You never know. It's a tough sport, and it's competitive. To be part of this, I think I'm just grateful, but I also know how special the opportunity is and what it means. So, in knowing that, it's motivating. It's a lot of fun to be a part of. You can feel the energy coming off of 4 Nations. That was huge, and I think everyone got a taste of international hockey and, obviously, what the Olympics are going to look like.

A lot of different emotions, but just excited, motivated, and grateful for the opportunity to be at it again."

Could Canada's Captain Push for One More Olympic Run?

While Crosby didn't hint at another run, even if he can be a 50-point player by the time he's 42 and ready for the next Olympics, Team Canada will have a role for their iconic captain.
After all, Crosby continues to cement himself as a top-five player in the history of the National Hockey League, and given what he means to this team and this country, don't be shocked if he signs a new deal in Pittsburgh to have a true farewell in 2030.
