Justin Brazeau Discusses the Key Factor That Has Led to His Breakout At 27 Years Old
Justin Brazeau has been a long time depth player in the NHL, and now, he's opened up on the path that led to his breakout with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The 2025/26 season was expected to be a struggle for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but early in the year they've been impressive, posting a 5-2-0 record through their first seven games.
One key piece of that success has been the goaltending of Artus Silovs and Tristan Jarry, but beyond that, the offense has been incredibly impressive in their own right, bolstered by surprise seasons from several players.
Brazeau opens up on his journey to a breakout year
Perhaps none have been more pleasantly surprising than 27-year old winger Justin Brazeau, who has played in all seven games thus far, tallying 5 goals and 8 points in that time, becoming a genuine top-six winger for a team that desperately needed it.
Now, after his first three-point night in the National Hockey League, he opened up on the battle that it took to get where he is, and it appears as though he knew it may take some time, but now that he's here, he's ready to grab that opportunity with both hands.
I've believed that I can contribute at every level. Sometimes it takes me a little longer to figure it out and find the timings and stuff like that. Once I (do) and understand that stuff, I can make a lot of plays.
Alongside Evgeni Malkin and Anthony Mantha, this has become one of the most effective lines in hockey, and if Brazeau can keep this play up, he could become a major trade piece for this team, or help them make a shock run towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
