The Penguins are only a few points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and have been getting key contributions from newcomer Connor Dewar.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have suddenly turned things around and are within striking distance of a playoff spot despite their loss to the New York Islanders on home ice on Tuesday night.
There were several moves made by GM Kyle Dubas at the Trade Deadline, including picking up Chase Stillman, Max Graham, and a 2027 3rd round draft pick in exchange for Cody Glass.
Dubas also picked up defenseman Conor Timmins and forward Connor Dewar from his former club, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Dewar has already made meaningful contributions to the Penguins, scoring twice in Sunday's 7-3 win over the New Jersey Devils; he later said picking it up offensively was a great feeling with his new team.
It's been great to come in and contribute right away. It makes you feel a lot more comfortable, and it's nice to help out and get some wins here.

Head coach Mike Sullivan, who put Dewar on Pittsburgh's 3rd line with Noel Acciari and Blake Lizotte, loves how they played together.
I just think, No. 1, they're playing real well, but they play the game the right way. There's detail associated with their game. They have structure, so they're predictable for one another. They don't go on their own agenda - they have structure.

When you play with structure and you're predictable to one another, you can work collectively as a group on both sides of the puck, and it makes the game a little bit easier. They have it. They're competitive guys, and they compete hard. They're willing to go to the net and do a lot of little things that I think add up to success.

Per the latest line combinations on Daily Faceoff, Dewar has since been moved to Pittsburgh's 2nd line with Evgeni Malkin and Philip Tomasino.
Dewar was taken with the 92nd pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild; he's also played for the Leafs. Before he arrived in Pittsburgh, he had only 3 assists in 31 games with the Leafs this year.
He can become an restricted free agent this summer.
