Kris Letang Breaks Silence on Rumors of a Potential Trade Out of Pittsburgh
Kristopher Letangs future is up in the air in Pittsburgh along with several other veterans, and now he's opened up on being traded by the only team he's ever known.
There's still an opportunity for that to happen if they play their cards right, but with rumours swirling around
Erik Karlsson, other veterans may be on the move too, and that includes Kris Letang, who has been alongside Sidney Crosby for his entire career thus far.
When asked about potential trades out of Pittsburgh however, the veteran blue liner didn't appear too worried, as he reiterates that he knows it's a business and that he understands trades could happen.
«No. I mean, it's a business. I've known that since I was 21 years old.»
Thankfully he understands that, as many players simply don't and will take trade rumours and speculation to heart, and unfortunately, that can often effect play on the ice or morale in the locker room.
Unlike Erik Karlsson, who is likely to be moved, there's no guarantees that the team want to move on from Letang, but with three years and an average of $6.1 million left on his current deal, there's been speculation that the team could look to move on.
As of right now, there's no chance that happens before the trade deadline, but it's something that could again be explored in the summer, so whether or not that comes to fruition, the 37-year old is prepared for whatever comes next in the final years of his NHL career.
