When the Penguins landed Connor Dewar at the deadline, not much was expected from him, but thus far, the 25-year old has been a game changer in Pittsburgh, drawing plenty of praise for the way he's started his career as a Penguin.
At the trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Penguins made a few intriguing deals and a few that drew the backlash of the fans, but the one that has paid off the most thus far has been acquiring Connor Dewar from Kyle Dubas' former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After struggling to catch on in Toronto, Dewar has stood out in Pittsburgh thus far playing in the middle-six, as he has posted an impressive 3 goals and 4 points alongside a +4 differential in six games played with the Penguins.
Plenty of people have been noticing his performance, including some Maple Leafs fans, who may now be regretting letting him go, as he could have provided great bottom-six depth for that team if given the right opportunity.
The Athletic haven't shied away from praising Dubas for the move either, as they have noted this was one of Dubas' best moves at the deadline, with both he and
Conor Timmins looking like perfect fits for this Penguins team.
«One of the best things Kyle Dubas did at the deadline was picking up Dewar and Conor Timmins from the Maple Leafs. They look like outstanding fits.»
In 31 games for Toronto this season, Dewar had just three assists, proving that he was clearly undervalued with the Maple Leafs, but given that Dubas was the one to draft him in Toronto, he's clearly aware of what he can do, and now Penguins fans are seeing that after the brilliant move to land him at the deadline.
