The Penguins are heading towards a rebuild this summer, but according to an NHL source, there's a chance that Kyle Dubas looks to speed up that process.
After missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight season in 2024/25, the Pittsburgh Penguins are being forced to take a look at their future, with most defining them as the only true seller in the NHL heading into this off-season.
With the No. 11 and 12 overall picks in the 2025 NHL Draft, as well as 18 picks in the first three rounds of the next three drafts, if done right, Kyle Dubas and the Penguins can set themselves up well for life beyond
Sidney Crosby.
However, a recent report from Josh Yohe of The Athletic has suggested otherwise, with an anonymous source inside the NHL noting that Kyle Dubas could look to get aggressive and speed things up.
"Kyle is looking to be aggressive. Everyone knows it." said a league source who was granted anonymity so they could speak freely about another team.
According to the source, everyone in the league knows that Dubas is looking to be aggressive, and while it's unclear what moves that could mean for Pittsburgh, if the team wanted to move some picks for NHL ready players, they've certainly got the assets to make it happen.
