Kyle Dubas Reportedly 'Foaming at the Mouth' to Poach Head Coach From Divisional Rival
The Pittsburgh Penguins have a big Head Coach decision to make, and reportedly, GM Kyle Dubas has one major target in mind for the position.
After parting ways with long time Head Coach Mike Sullivan, the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of seven teams remaining in the NHL with a vacancy at the position, and they've been linked to many options.
Most, if not all of those choices are simple ones that are currently free, but according to reports, the No. 1 option in the eyes of General Manager Kyle Dubas is not that, as he is 'foaming at the mouth' of someone he has very close ties too, according to former NHLer Paul Bissonnette on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast.
«You know Dubas is foaming at the mouth to bring Keefe into f****** Pittsburgh... I got criticized. Well, they came at me a little bit harder because I said the book's still out on Kyle Dubas on the Pat McAfee show, but boys, this guy traded
Jake Guentzel for Bunting."
That comes from Paul Bissonnette, and while he's more entertainer than he is reporter, there's no denying that he has connections in the NHL, even if he is simply connecting the dots here.
It's no secret that Dubas was a huge fan of Sheldon Keefe while they were both with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and after he was fired by the team, many connected him immediately to Pittsburgh.
Now, it appears the decision could be up to Keefe, whose Devils lost in the first-round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and while Dubas remains highly interested, if Keefe is committed to his current role, they'll likely have to pivot to a different option this summer.
