Mike Sullivan Confirms his Future as Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for three straight seasons now, and unsurprisingly, given the veteran roster they've got, the expectations around them remain high.

While players like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are safe, there are expected to be some big changes this summer, with many suggesting that there could be a change behind the bench too.

That has led to some speculating that Mike Sullivan's future could be up in the air, but for now, he has revealed that his intention is to remain with the team moving forward.

Since arriving in Pittsburgh in 2015/16, Sullivan has helped this team to immense success, winning two Stanley Cups in that time while posting a 409-255-89 record, meaning that he remains one of the most successful coaches in franchise history.

However, with the team struggling for the past three seasons, the shine has somewhat worn off, but according to the roster, the respect remains immense for the 57-year old.

According to reports, Sidney Crosby remains a huge supporter of Sullivan, and as long as that is the case, he will remain the Head Coach, with his intentions to remain behind their bench.

That doesn't mean that things can't change moving forward, but for now, he's committed to turning things around for Pittsburgh and making them a contender once again, and if they can make some good moves this summer, it's safe to say that they've still got the pieces in place to contend for a Stanley Cup.
