Following a two-game absence, Bryan Rust was seen as a full participant during Penguins practice today, even skating on a line with Sidney Crosby.

Bryan Rust missed back-to-back weekend games in Pittsburgh against Calgary and Boston due to a lower-body injury, but he seemed like himself during the Wednesday morning skate.

Where Bryan Rust slotted in during the morning skate

He's skating on a line with Sidney Crosby and Rickard Rakell, and Tristan Broz and Ryan Graves were also out on the ice, along with all other expected players following Monday's day off, except for Erik Karlsson, who will be out for at least two weeks.
The 33-year-old Rust was officially listed day-to-day after the injury, and prior to it, he logged 19:29 and fired two shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.
His absence in the game against the Flames opened the door for Kevin Hayes to slot in.
A third-round pick (No. 80 overall) of Pittsburgh in the 2010 NHL Draft, Rust has spent his entire pro career in the Penguins organization.
The 5'11» right winger played four years at Notre Dame before breaking in with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2014.

Why Bryan Rust is so important to the team

Rust took part in the Stanley Cup runs of Pittsburgh both in 2016 and 2017, appearing in 46 playoff games across those campaigns, and he's since become a reliable scorer, recording at least 20 goals in six consecutive seasons from 2019-20 through 2024-25.
This season, in 40 games played, he has accumulated 16 goals and 36 points. He's under contract through the 2027-28 season, carrying a $5.125 million cap hit.
