The Penguins announced that Erik Karlsson is injured and will be out and re-evaluated in two weeks, so in the process, the team has called up a few players.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were forced to make several roster moves on Tuesday as they continue to navigate yet another injury.
The team recalled forward Tristan Broz and defenseman Ryan Graves from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, as this was due to placing defenseman Erik Karlsson on injured reserve following an injury.
Forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard was also reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move, after the team recently called him up.

What Erik Karlsson is dealing with

It has been reported that Karlsson is dealing with a lower-body injury and is expected to be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks, according to a statement released by the team.
The veteran defenseman logged 23:12 of ice time in Sunday's game against the Boston Bruins, but it is unclear when the injury occurred during that game. His absence will now leave a notable gap on the blue line.

Why Ryan Graves will be leaned on during Erik Karlsson's absence

The veteran Graves was recalled to help stabilize the defense during Karlsson's absence, as head coach Dan Muse will now be forced to work through short-term lineup decisions.
It should be noted that Karlsson's offensive production has cooled recently, with just one goal over his last 12 games, though he has remained productive as a playmaker, collecting seven assists during that stretch.
The Penguins need flexibility as they head into a very busy portion of the schedule leading up to the Olympic break.
With injuries beginning to test their depth, Pittsburgh will lean on contributions from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton call-ups while also monitoring Karlsson's recovery closely over the next two weeks. Hopefully, there will be some good news after that timeline.
