Per Penguins analyst Seth Rorabaugh, Pittsburgh could choose to call up Boko Imama from the AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a better start than just about any fan and analyst could have predicted by even the most conservative estimates.
But per a new report from analyst Seth Rorabaugh, it wouldn't be surprising to see them call up prospect forward Boko Imama from the American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for tomorrow's matchup against the divisional foe Philadelphia Flyers.
I have no particular insight as to who the Penguins might recall (or if they will).
But I wouldn't be shocked if Boko Imama is considered given how heated things get with the Flyers (as was the case last time).
Plus, they need help in the shootout.
There was plenty of rough stuff between the Penguins and Flyers in their most recent games, and given Boko Imama's willingness to get his hands dirty, it could be to their benefit to have his presence on the ice.
Boko Imama Was Re-Signed By The Penguins This Summer
Imama, who was taken with the 180th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lighting while he was playing for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL, has limited NHL experience.
He was traded to the Los Angeles Kings by the Lightning in 2017, and he signed an entry level contract with the team. But he would spend most of his time with the AHL affiliate Ontario Reign, and was eventually traded in 2021 to the Arizona Coyotes for Tyler Steenbergen and Brayden Burke.
After playing with the Ottawa Senators, he was signed to a one year contract by the Penguins last summer. He would score a goal in
16 games played with the Penguins last year.
This summer, he was re-signed to a one year deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $775,000.
In 31 career NHL games, he has two goals. So far this year in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he has four points (3G, 1A).
