NHL insider Josh Yohe acknowledged the Penguins are off to a hot start, but that doesn't take away from the team still building for the future with its plan.

There is always pressure that the GM of the Penguins, Kyle Dubas, will face; it comes with the position. Whether it's serving as a general manager, a team president, or a media figure in professional sports, he's going to face scrutiny.
This is something that Dubas can appreciate, given his past tenure in Toronto, where he was certainly a divisive figure. However, circumstances in Pittsburgh are different currently. The Penguins are currently leading from the front.
Not many could forecast that, given that in Vegas betting odds, their chances of making it to the playoffs were only nine percent at the start of the new season.
However, the Penguins are currently 6-2-1 and rank third in the East, behind only the Devils and Canadiens, with one of the highest goal differentials in the league.

Penguins fans are starting to demand that Kyle Dubas bring in more talent when this should be a rebuilding season

This sudden success also comes with its set of difficulties. The fans are already having dreams about the postseason, and it will not be too long before they start asking for Dubas to bring in more support.
The empty seats in PPG Paints Arena will only expedite that process. Still, his associates have told NHL insider Josh Yohe that Dubas will not waver from his master plan.
"Everyone I have spoken with, however, tells me that Dubas isn't going to budge, that he possesses a vision of the future for these Penguins that is bright. And he's not going to mess with that. He's not going to get aggressive on the trade market and give up any future assets merely to help this team reach the playoffs."

If his group does happen to make the playoffs, Dubas will be happy for them, but he will not trade tomorrow for today.
The vision that Dubas has is clear: he wants to construct a team that's hard to beat when it comes to battling for titles, and he wants it to last many, many years.
Pittsburgh is a city that is built on banners and expectation; Kyle Dubas isn't chasing approval, rather, he's building patience, and maybe, just maybe, something lasting.
