Penguins Starter Looks to Stay Perfect - Against Joel Hofer, Who Once Did Something Incredible
Pittsburgh has announced its starting goalie, Tristan Jarry, who will face off against Joel Hofer, who once scored a goal against the AHL Penguins.
Tristan Jarry starts
in goal tonight for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has played in nine career games vs. the St. Louis Blues, where he has put up a record of 7-1-1 with a 2.35 GAA, .910 save percentage, and one shutout, truly stellar statistics.
Jarry is also undefeated (5-0-0) against the Blues at home when playing in PPG Paints Arena, and during those games, he has a mesmerizing 1.58 GAA and a .947 save percentage.
Meanwhile, for the Blues, they are expected to start goaltender Joel Hofer tonight against the Penguins. Hofer was part of a memorable moment, albeit against Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate.
Joel Hofer had a goalie goal back in the 2022 AHL playoffs vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
During the 2022 AHL playoffs, Hofer, who was playing for the Springfield Thunderbirds, scored a goal on an empty net vs. the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Hofer has given up 10 goals on 28 shots in his last two outings, and he didn't play the entire game in either appearance. He has a 1-1-0 record across three games this season despite it all.
Pittsburgh ranks seventh in the league with 3.56 goals per game this campaign, so Hofer will need to bring his A game.
Seeing as Jarry will play vs. the Blues, Silovs is likely to start on the road versus the Flyers on Tuesday in the battle of Pennsylvania.
In his four appearances this year, the 30-year-old Jarry has been far exceeding expectations, sporting a 3-1-0 record, a 2.52 GAA, and one shutout.
