Some good news emerged at Penguins practice today, as injured forward Bryan Rust took to the ice for the first time since he was sidelined about one week ago.

Injured Pittsburgh Penguins winger Bryan Rust took to the ice for practice with the team on Wednesday at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex for the first time since his injury.
Rust has a lower-body injury, which he suffered about a week ago. He was then listed as being out for a minimum of two weeks. Rust was put on injured reserve on Monday.

Bryan Rust was Wearing a Regular Jersey at Practice Which is Good News

He was not wearing a no-contact jersey as practice began Wednesday, which further adds to the good news. He missed the team's 3-0 season-opening win Tuesday against former coach Mike Sullivan and the Rangers in New York.
All other expected players were participating in practice, as the Penguins hope to avoid any further absences and continue on their hot start and recent successful play as of late that finished off the preseason.
Rust's name has been brought up as a potential trade chip for the Penguins to accelerate their rebuild, but the forward has made it clear he would like to stay beyond this season in the Steel City.
"For me, I just want to personally continue that winning culture that's been in Pittsburgh for so long," Rust told The Athletic. "That good culture, that good character that's been here, I want that to be passed along year after year so that culture doesn't slip. To me, that's important. To me, that's a big deal."

The Penguins will next play on Thursday, which will be their home opener vs. the New York Islanders, and it remains to be seen how many more games Rust will miss.
