There has been a new Bryan Rust injury update, and it's not a good one, as Penguins head coach Dan Muse revealed he will be out two weeks minimum.

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Bryan Rust will be sidelined for the start of the regular season after sustaining an undisclosed injury in practice on Wednesday, which was revealed by Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
The team's head coach, Dan Muse, said that Rust will miss at least two weeks, with his earliest return date set for Oct. 16 against the Kings. That's a minimum absence of four games, but it could possibly be longer.
He will be eligible for an injured reserve placement when opening night rosters are due in the coming days.
There have been a lot of trade talks surrounding Rust over the last few months, dating back to last season, but any of those that are ongoing for the top-six forward will now take a brief pause.

Bryan Rust had a Career Season Last Year

Coming off the first 30-goal, 60-point season of his NHL career, the 33-year-old Rust was an easy trade target as the Penguins are in rebuild territory.
Like fellow trade candidates Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell, though, he'll be remaining with the organization to begin the regular season, but unfortunately, he will not be able to take to the ice until later in October.
"For me, I just want to personally continue that winning culture that's been in Pittsburgh for so long," Rust told The Athletic. "That good culture, that good character that's been here, I want that to be passed along year after year so that culture doesn't slip. To me, that's important. To me, that's a big deal."

Penguins fans are hoping that Rust's injury won't be longer than two weeks, as the team has had a successful preseason so far and wants to carry that momentum into the regular season.
