Emil Bemstrom has shown some promise at the NHL level, but now, he's headed back to the AHL after the Penguins re-assigned him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Pittsburgh Penguins season is quickly coming to a close, with the team looking to bring in some of their young talent to take a look towards the future beyond the 2024/25 campaign.
That was on display during their latest loss to the St. Louis Blues, with Rutger McGroarty tallying his first point and his first goal at the NHL level, but for some young names, they haven't been quite as lucky.
That's now been confirmed as General Manager Kyle Dubas has officially re-assigned young forward Emil Bemstrom to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
The 25-year old has played in just 13 games with the Penguins this year, tallying one assist in that time, but with 46 points in 43 games played in the AHL, it's becoming clear that the organization don't believe he can be an NHL regular moving forward.
This move comes less than a week after Bemstrom was officially waived by the team, and with little action between now and then, the former Columbus Blue Jackets forward is in a very tough spot in his career, as he's too good for the AHL but has yet to find his game at the next level.
With the team getting younger, there's every chance that Kyle Dubas was hoping to get him in the lineup, but with the likes of McGroarty and Ville Koivunen both showing off their potential at the highest level, he's clearly missed out on landing a spot with Pittsburgh.
