Penguins GM Kyle Dubas Opens Up About Horrible Treatment of Him and His Family in Toronto
The former Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas revealed shocking details on how he was treated in Toronto during a recent podcast interview.
Kyle Dubas has been
with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the past two years, after some rough seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hired in 2018 to lead the Leafs out of their infamous playoff drought, he only won one round over four seasons.
In a new interview on the Cam and Strick Podcast, Dubas opened up on a few interesting topics, but what he stated about his kids in Toronto in his final year with the Leafs is truly heartbreaking.
Dubas Reveals Shocking Story About How His Kids Were Treated By Leafs Fans
In Toronto, most people have their own opinion on the Leafs, even children.
Dubas revealed a shocking story about how his kid, who was five years old during the Pens' GM final year in Toronto, would face comments from other kids if the team lost or played poorly.
"In my last year in Toronto, there were a few times when we started the season poorly or lost the first game against Tampa in the first round of the playoffs, and kids would start to make remarks. At that time, my son was five, about to turn six."
"My family is hugely important to me, and I can't say I want to commit somewhere until I have a more full understanding of what this year took on them."
Toronto fans are very hard on their teams. Dubas left because he was fired, but after that story, he likely would've left even if a contract extension had been on the table,
just like Marner did.If Leafs fans want to see their team win at some point, giving them some slack might be the solution. Pushing people to leave isn't the solution.
