Penguins Head Coach Dan Muse Praises Young Goalie Sergei Murashov Ahead of Crucial Roster Cut Down Day

The Pittsburgh Penguins need to start focusing on their future, and if they do that, one position of major strength that they have is the goaltending room, with Arturs Silovs, Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov all making up promising young stars of the future.

The first two have played NHL games over the past few years, but for Murashov, many feel as though his time is coming, and after the pre-season, Head Coach Dan Muse may be one of those people too.

In an interview with NHL.com following the Penguins latest pre-season showdown, Muse addressed the game and the entire pre-season, and when asked about Murashov, he couldn't have been more complimentary.

Last season, the 21-year old appeared in 16 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL, and in that time he impressed, posting a 2.64 GAA and a .913 save percentage, showing that he's capable of making the step up in competition with great success.

With Tristan Jarry, Silovs and Blomqvist all likely ahead of him on the depth chart, it makes sense for the Penguins to let him get significant playing time in the AHL this season, but given the way he's played and the way Dan Muse has spoken about him, it won't be long until he's getting NHL playing time of his own.
