A recent report has connected the Pittsburgh Penguins to a reunion between Kyle Dubas and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson.

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to re-tool and rebuild their roster this season building toward the future while still trying to remain competitive.
With a rebuild on the agenda for the Penguins Kyle Dubas and the front office have placed a priority on adding both through the draft, as evidenced by Ben Kindel and Harrison Brunicke making the opening night roster, or on the trade market in exchange for aging veterans.
According to multiple sources Nick Robertson of the Maple Leafs could become a prime target for Dubas and the Penguins.

Penguins Linked to Maple Leafs Struggling Young Star

After being selected by Dubas in the 2019 NHL Draft, Nick Robertson has struggled to carve out a role in the Maple Leafs lineup in the following 6 years since.
At 24-years-old, Robertson remains a disappointing draft selection with potential for a career resurgence given the right opportunity.
Today, a report from Chris Johnston and Jonas Siegel has indicated the Penguins could be the team to give Robertson that opportunity.
While Robertson still has untapped potential he carries a great amount of risk as he has proven to be a disappointing bottom-six player when having to play a more defensive shut down role.
This means if Dubas and the Penguins were to acquire him it would be to play him with either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.
Investing that much into a player who hasn't proven any ability to succeed at the NHL level when given chances would be incredibly risky.
But, if there is one person who could help Robertson get back on track it would be the man who drafted him in the first place.
When it comes to value Robertson's is at an all-time low so the overall trade compensation needed to land him would likely be relatively insignificant.
If the Penguins are out of the playoff race near the trade deadline trading for Robertson to see if there is untapped potential there could be a great swing from Dubas.
As the situation continues to play out, we will pass along the latest details regarding Robertson's future and the Penguins potential pursuit of him.
