Tonight, insider Elliotte Friedman has suggested that the Pittsburgh Penguins could target Olympic gold medalist Vincent Trocheck at the NHL trade deadline.

The Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves in the heat of the playoff race without their captain Sidney Crosby after he was ruled out with a major injury.
Crosby's absence leaves a massive void not only in the locker room but on the ice as well with their second-line center position needing major support now.
With the NHL trade deadline approaching Kyle Dubas and the Penguins front office are considering their options on potential upgrades to make before the deadline passes.
Tonight, Elliotte Friedman has suggested that the Penguins could look to acquire veteran Olympic forward Vincent Trocheck.

In a new iteration of 32 Thoughts, Friedman linked the Penguins and Pittsburgh native Vincent Trocheck.
While Friedman believes Trocheck would be a great fit he's not sure if Dubas is willing to go all-in with Crosby out for so long.
He's obviously from there, I think he'd be a great roster fit there, I just don't know that the Penguins, at where they are, are going to be making the kind of trade it would take to get him - 32 Thoughts (2/27)
If Dubas does decide to push for the playoffs acquiring Trocheck could be the exact boost the Penguins need.
At 32-years-old, Trocheck fits in with the veteran culture of the Penguins and is having a good season with 38 points in 45 games this season so far.
The biggest drawback when it comes to Trocheck is the fact he has three more seasons on his contract which could be a major risk for the Penguins.
If Kyle Dubas wants to go all-in and believes in the Penguins' ability to win the Stanley Cup this season then Trocheck makes sense but if not he is a major risk who might not be worth the reward.
