The Penguins have sent down Harrison Brunicke to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and have made other roster moves in the process as well.
The length of time Harrison Brunicke has been a healthy scratch
Brunicke has been a healthy scratch for Pittsburgh's last seven games, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him going out to the AHL on a conditioning assignment.
Why Harrison Brunicke was assigned to the AHL on a loan
Brunicke is right on the cusp of burning through the first year of his entry-level deal, having played in nine games already. If he plays one more, that officially removes that first year off the deal.
Aside from Brunicke, the Penguins have recalled
Tristan Broz from Wilkes-Barre and, in the process, have assigned forward
Philip Tomasino and
Jack St. Ivany there. St. Ivany joins Brunicke in a conditioning assignment as well.
St. Ivany has slowly been working his way back from his lower-body issue, most recently seen practising in a regular jersey on Friday.
In his 19 appearances last year, the 26-year-old blueliner registered just one assist, had 38 hits and 12 shots while averaging 16:22 of ice time.
The Baby Pens suit up versus AHL Hershey on Wednesday, which means St. Ivany and Brunicke could make their debuts then.
The Penguins' next game is on Wednesday when they host the Buffalo Sabres at 7 PM ET.
