Penguins Media Caught Off Guard by Dubas' Shocking Rebuild Statement

The Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs in three straight seasons, and for most teams in that same position, it would be more likely than not that they would be heading into a rebuild.

However, the Penguins are in a unique position as they are led by Sidney Crosby, so while many may want to see a rebuild, having a legend like 87 on the roster certainly changes their circumstances moving forward.

During the Penguins exit day interviews, General Manager Kyle Dubas addressed a possible rebuild, using an incredibly unique and surprising statement that shocked the media in attendance.

Dubas clearly shares reservations of other General Managers, who are often times cautious of tearing it down and going into a complete rebuild, and unsurprisingly, he put it in a very unique way.

Simply put, it doesn't appear as though the Penguins are going into a rebuild anytime soon, and with plenty of salary cap space and draft picks, this is a team that could re-tool on the fly, and given Dubas' comments on the entire situation, don't be shocked to see them be very aggressive to get back to competing under Sidney Crosby.
