Penguins Trade Rumor: Could Rickard Rakell Land in the Pacific Division?
Rickard Rakell has been at the centre of trade talks this off-season, and now rumour has emerged that Kyle Dubas could send him to the Vancouver Canucks.
The Pittsburgh Penguins came into the 2025 NHL off-season as one of the NHL's only true sellers, but to this point, Kyle Dubas clearly hasn't been happy with thee offers that he's gotten.
Most of the speculation around this team is surrounding Bryan Rust, Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell, with most believing that a fire sale could send this team into a true rebuild.
Dubas Weighing Future as Penguins Consider Fire Sale Options
While there's a chance that happens, Dubas is clearly still weighing up his options, as he may look at the incredible run of Sidney Crosby as a reason to hold off a true tear down rebuild situation.
For now though, he's still fielding interest in all three and potentially more players on the roster, with a recent proposal linking Rakell to the Western Conference and the Vancouver Canucks.

In a recent piece for The Score, Josh Wegman put together a proposal to send Rakell west, and it may not be a bad one for the Penguins.

Canucks get:
F Rickard Rakell
This move would land Pittsburgh a talented young forward, an intriguing prospect and another first-round pick in one of the most loaded drafts we've seen in recent times, and if that offer was on the table, it may be hard for them to turn it down.
Ultimately though, Dubas has likely gotten similar offers already, but to this point he's not pulled the trigger, with Penguins fans patiently waiting for the rumoured fire sale to begin before the 2025/26 season.
