The Pittsburgh Penguins have some fun young talents in the organization, and now Kyle Dubas has revealed they could push some veterans out next season.
This season didn't go the way the Pittsburgh Penguins would have liked, and while they still have one of the best veterans in the NHL, it's clear now that the organization are looking towards the future moving forward.
Now, General Manager Kyle Dubas has all but confirmed the future is coming in a recent interview where he revealed there are some young players coming through, and if they outperform veterans, the front office and the coaching staff aren't going to stop them taking spots.
«Those guys are comin', and we're not going to stop them»
The two players most likely to be pushed out of their spot based on organizational strength and struggles at the top level this season are
Tristan Jarry and/or
Alex Nedeljkovic, neither of whom solidified their place in the lineup ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
In fact, Jarry struggled so much this year that there have been calls for him to be either bought out or traded (with an asset or two attached) in the off-season, with two young goaltenders banging down the door.
The first goaltender to likely take over in the NHL is
Joel Blomqvist, who was recently compared to Flames superstar
Dustin Wolf on social media due to his numbers, and if he's given time and patience to develop, he could be a solid 1A at the NHL level moving forward.
The other is Sergei Murashov, who has impressed early in his AHL career, posting a 2.66 and a .914 save percentage through 14 starts, with both having very high potential moving forward.
Ultimately, it's up to the two young players to take the next step and take over from the veterans, and if their play continues, it's safe to say that it won't be long before we see both in the NHL.
