It's no secret that the Penguins have been dealing with
serious goaltending issues this season. Management even sent their number-one goaltender,
Tristan Jarry, down to the AHL after a string of underwhelming performances.
In breaking news, the Penguins have made a move they hope will address their goaltending woes.
Nearly two months after sending him to the AHL, Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas has decided to recall Tristan Jarry from
the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and send back Blomqvist.
They announced the news with the following post on X:
In 12 AHL games, Jarry has recorded a 6-5-1 record with a .908 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average.
A tough task awaits Jarry as he gets back to a team that hasn't been winning much lately. In fact, they have only won three of their last ten games, with both Nedeljkovic and Blomqvist unable to give their team a chance to win.
After 15 games in the NHL, Blomqvist showed that he still needs to grow before reaching his full potential, with a 4-9-1 record, a 3.81 GAA, and a .885 SV%.
Fans and management hope to see him succeed in the AHL to develop into a true number-one NHL goalie.
As for Nedeljkovic,
his recent outburst after being pulled from a game didn't do anything. He hasn't been good enough to be a part of a team looking to be in the playoff race.
With his contract expiring at the end of next season, it would be surprising to see him remain with the Penguins long-term.
