Pittsburgh Penguins Part Ways with Mike Sullivan After Disaster Season

The Pittsburgh Penguins have long been led by Mike Sullivan, but after missing the playoffs for three straight seasons, he's now out as Head Coach.
However, the team have struggled as of late, missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs in three straight seasons, and clearly, that's had an effect on Sullivan and the entire Penguins organization.
While there was talk about potentially moving on in Pittsburgh, no one quite expected that to happen, but on Monday morning, the team dropped a bombshell, officially announcing they are parting ways with Sullivan.
The belief around the league was that Sullivan had the support of
Sidney Crosby,
Evgeni Malkin and the veteran core, and while those players are around, nobody saw this one coming.
However, the team believe that moving forward, the best thing to do was bring in a new face and a new perspective to the franchise, and as a result, Sullivan's stellar time in Pittsburgh is done.
On top of winning two Stanley Cups, Sullivan leaves the Penguins with a record of 409-255-89, making him one of the most successful coaches in franchise history, but after recent struggles, it appears they simply have different views for the future in Pittsburgh, and now they'll have a new face behind the bench moving forward.
This will lead the Penguins to have another huge decision to make in the summer, and with Kyle Dubas talking about a re-tool around Sidney Crosby, this is another task added to his plate, but if they can find a good replacement, who knows what 2025/26 holds in Pittsburgh.
