Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has admitted to what caused the brawl with the Canadiens in game three.

The first round of the playoffs has been as exciting as ever this year and the Washington Capitals series against the Montreal Canadiens has been no different.
The series has already seen multiple overtime games as well as a major brawl in game three.
Immediately after the brawl, fans began speculating as to why is happened considering how unusual it was with Tom Wilson and Josh Andersson duking it out on the bench.
The main theory is that Wilson was taunting Habs former 1st overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky.
Today, we got some comments from Wilson that somewhat clarified the situation, giving credence to the idea that Slafkovsky was his target.
Wilson refused to say who he was specifically going after, but he did clarify that he was chirping one player in particular, not the entire team.
"Yeah, it was for one guy. I wasn't doing it to their whole team. It was for one guy. I'm not going to say who, but he knows who it was, and obviously the camera was right on me, so I guess I should probably just shut up sometimes, but like I said, emotions get high. They're playing hard, we're playing hard. It's been fun hockey so far, and we'll keep it going."

Wilson would go on to say that this is the best part of playoff hockey.
He added that the playoffs are always physical, and that these kinds of conflicts can turn into rivalries that lasts years if not decades.
"It's playoff hockey, and he's a competitor; I'm a competitor. I think that's the game of hockey - that's why everybody loves it, right? It can be a little bit crazy at times, and it's physical and it's playoffs. I think there's always a little bit of carryover in the playoffs. There's always those emotions. When you play a team over and over, it can get that way. It can become a rivalry."

Will the Capitals and Canadiens emerge as bitter rivals after this series? How the rest of it plays out will obviously play a big factor in that.
One factor that will play a big role in game four in the goaltending, as both goaltenders left game three with injuries.
Unfortunately, the teams are not in the same division, but with both clubs being in the eastern conference they very well could meet in the playoffs again in the coming years, which could intensify this budding rivalry.
