Bryan Rust has been a star for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and now it appears as though he's drawing significant interest on the trade market per a top insider.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been described as one of, if not the only true seller in the market this off-season, and unsurprisingly, that means that plenty of key players on their team are drawing significant interest.
We know that the likes of
Erik Karlsson and
Rickard Rakell are potential pieces to be moved, but now, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, it's veteran forward Bryan Rust that may be drawing the most interest.
"They're listening on everyone that aren't legacy guys. You know, they're not gonna move Malkin or Crosby. Rust is the guy, the one that teams are calling on the most. But, they didn't decide to sell until really midway through last year."
LeBrun did confirm that at this time, the team aren't listening on their two biggest stars, and while Bryan Rust has been a long time star for this team, if the offers that come in are big enough, Kyle Dubas' hand may eventually be forced.
In a struggling 2024/25 season, Rust tallied 31 goals and 65 points in 71 games played, but at 33-years of age with no future for this team, it may be the time for the team to move him.
LeBrun doesn't speculate which teams will be most aggressive in trying to land Rust or whether or not the Penguins could look to offload him if the deal is right, but for now, expect the interest to pick up as the Penguins look to recoup assets and build for the future.
