Possible Star Winger Emerges on the Trade Block: Could Pittsburgh Steal Lukas Reichel?

The Chicago Blackhawks appear to be building something special, and with star centre Connor Bedard leading the way, with patience, this organization have the potential to put a very good young core on the ice.

However, recent reports from Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast have revealed that young winger Lukas Reichel is likely on the trade block, with the team seeking a trade partner for him.

There are plenty of teams out there that make sense for Reichel, but given his size at 6-foot-0 and 170 pounds, there haven't been many takers for the former No. 17 overall draft pick as of right now.

One team that could make sense are the Pittsburgh Penguins, as they could offer up a package of veteran players/mid-to-late round draft picks to Chicago in exchange for the underperforming young winger.

In 135 games over the past two years, Reichel has been inconsistent, tallying 13 goals and 38 points in that time, with many hoping he could take a huge step forward at 23-years of age, but if there's any duo that could get the best out of him, it's Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

Ultimately, the Penguins have been linked to several young players this off-season like Bowen Byram, Mason McTavish, Connor Zary and Marco Rossi, but to this point they've not got a deal done, and while Reichel isn't at the level of those players, he could be a good buy low option for Kyle Dubas.
