Edmonton Oilers fans have been wanting to get rid of Darnell Nurse for years, and now, debate has emerged after a ridiculous trade proposal involving Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are motivated to move
Erik Karlsson this off-season, and while he's not the player he once was, he's still a very valuable asset, and the Penguins have reportedly treated him so in trade talks.
Despite this, there have been several trade proposals out there that undervalue the three-time Norris Trophy winner, and now we've seen perhaps the worst of the lot courtesy of Oilers Nation.
According to the two hosts of the podcast, the Oilers and Penguins should consider a four-player swap involving Darnell Nurse and Mattias Janmark for Erik Karlsson and
Tristan Jarry (50% retained).
Unsurprisingly, their video got the exact reaction they wanted, as fans have been absolutely flaming them for the ridiculous take, including renowned hockey analyst JFresh, who summed things up incredibly simply.
why on earth would Pittsburgh ever make this trade in a million years
In the deal, not only are the Oilers getting the best player in the deal in Karlsson, but they're also taking on a worse contract in Nurse for a much longer time, and while the Penguins should be trading Karlsson this summer and can take on a bad contract in the process, the deal for Nurse just makes no sense for Kyle Dubas.
Ultimately, not even the Oilers would be bold enough to propose this trade, as Dubas and the Penguins would laugh them off the phone, but still look for the team to move EK65 at some point as they look to get younger and potential future assets in return.
