Radko Gudas speaks out after hit that injured Sidney Crosby at the Olympics

Tonight, Radko Gudas of Team Czechia responded to criticism after his hit that injured Sidney Crosby at the 2026 Olympic Games.

This afternoon the Olympics provided four games of highly entertaining hockey.

Unfortunately for Penguins fans, the day was filled with frustration after Sidney Crosby suffered a serious looking injury against Czechia.

Crosby went down after a big hit from Radko Gudas folded him in half bending his knee awkwardly.

After the game, Canada’s head coach Jon Cooper was unable to give a definitive update on Crosby’s injury or status for the rest of the tournament.

Now, Gudas has spoken out about the hit that injured Crosby and what he saw on the play.

During a post game interview, Gudas was asked for his perspective on the unfortunate play that led to Crosby’s injury.

Gudas believes he was just trying to finish a check and didn’t intend to injure Crosby.

Radko Gudas says he was just trying to finish his check. Says he hopes Sidney Crosby is ok.

Regardless, Crosby is now on track to miss the 2026 Olympic Games semifinals with the injury suffered after the Gudas hit.

As of now, Gudas is not expected to face any disciplinary actions from the IOC or the IIHF for future international competitions.

Canada will now gear up to play against Finland in the Olympic semifinals with a trip to the Gold Medal game on the line.
