Sidney Crosby went down hurt, told Team Canada “Go get it, boys,” and the Olympic quarterfinal turned into a win-for-Sid mission.
It’s scary anytime the captain leaves, especially in a single-elimination game.
Canada didn’t have an update afterward, but the room clearly had a message.
Crosby spoke during intermission and pushed the group forward anyway.
They took that nudge and played like they owed him one shift, one stop, one goal.
Here’s the post that caught it all in real time.
"Go get it boys."
- Sidney Crosby
Canada eventually pulled out a 4-3 overtime win over Czechia.
Mitch Marner ended it 1:22 into OT after Nick Suzuki tied it with 3:27 left in the third.
That’s the wish fulfilled, plain and simple.
Czechia kept landing punches, and Canada had to answer without its heartbeat for long stretches.
Sidney Crosby pushes Team Canada through the chaos
Canadian fans were basically yelling at the TV, equal parts panic and pride, because you could feel the group trying to drag Sid’s night across the line.
Macklin Celebrini drove offense and piled up a goal and two assists.
Jordan Binnington had to settle things down and finished with 20 saves.
It wasn’t pretty, but it was stubborn, and sometimes that’s the whole tournament.
The moment Crosby says “Go get it, boys,” the game stops being about systems and starts being about will.
Jon Cooper’s line about not wanting that to be Sid’s last Olympic game says the quiet part out loud.
Now the wait is brutal, because the next game is huge and the captain’s status is the story.
But for one night, Crosby’s words landed, and Canada carried them straight into the semifinal.
