The Pittsburgh Penguins are gearing up for an intriguing 2025/26 campaign, and ahead of it, many players have now returned to the city for training camp.
The 2024/25 season was a tough one for the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the team missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight season, with many believing they should pivot towards a rebuild.
This off-season has strangely been a quiet one on that front, as the team neither added elite talent nor sold away their veterans, leaving many fans and analysts questioning their plans ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Season is Quickly Approaching: Malkin and More Now Back in Pittsburgh
Now, the social media team in Pittsburgh has revealed that several players, including
Evgeni Malkin have returned to the city ahead of training camp, filling the fans with excitement even ahead of what may be a rough season.
For Malkin, this may be an even more emotional time, as the belief around the Penguins is that this will be his final campaign with the team after giving the last two decades of his life to the franchise and to the city of Pittsburgh.
Despite that and the fact that Pittsburgh are expected to be one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League, fans are excited to see some familiar and some new faces returning to the ice, with winter in Pittsburgh epitomized for so many by the Penguins and
Sidney Crosby over the years.
Ultimately, this is an organization that's pushing towards their first rebuild in over 20 years, but if the fans can get behind them and continue their support, there may be many reasons to cheer for the Penguins throughout the upcoming season.
