Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini matches impressive record set by Sidney Crosby
Second year San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini continued his impressive career by matching a record previously set by Pittsburgh Penguins forward and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby.
After they won the NHL Draft Lottery, the San Jose Sharks picked forward Macklin Celebrini with the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
They're getting a firsthand look at what he can do for their franchise in his second year in the NHL, as his rookie season was marred by injury.
Celebrini already has 55 points (19G, 36A) at the time of the holiday break, becoming just the second teenager to reach that mark in the season at the holiday break since Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins did so in his own second year in the NHL in 2006-07.
In fact, both Crosby and Celebrini have bested Wayne Gretzky, who had 51 points at the time of the holiday break in 1980-81.
