This was seen by many as a controversial hire by Pittsburgh, as there were still some very good candidates available, but after an extensive search by GM Kyle Dubas, optimism is high about what Muse can bring to the table.
As for captain Sidney Crosby however, optimism may not be quite as high, as Elliotte Friedman has now reported that people in his inner circle could be questioning the hire and potentially hinting to 87 that he should be leaving Pittsburgh before his NHL career is done.
At the end of his comments however, the NHL's top insider reiterated that he believes Crosby is loyal to the Penguins organization no matter what they do, and even after the hire, there's a belief that he's committed to Pittsburgh for the remainder of his career.
While it's unclear exactly what the captain is thinking at this stage, the upcoming off-season could have a lot to do with his future, as he may see the team in a rebuilding phase that he doesn't want to be a part of, or they could make a splash to pair with the star captain to keep him happy. For now though, keep a close eye on things in Pittsburgh as questions remain about the future of their superstar captain.
