In the win over Switzerland, Crosby tallied a goal for Canada, which was his first of this year's games and his third point overall, placing him in the top five in tournament scoring while having played one less game than most of the other players ahead of him to this point.
Now, three points in the tournament, Crosby is at 13 points overall during his Olympic career and is approaching a Canadian record with several more games on the horizon for the Canadians.
Sidney Crosby approaching Canadian Olympic record
According to the NHL Public Relations on X, Sidney Crosby is just two points away from passing Calgary Flames legend Jarome Iginla for the most points in Canadian Olympic history that featured NHL players.
Sidney Crosby scored his first goal at MilanoCortina2026 and his fifth in the Winter Olympics overall, the fourth most by a Team Canada player in Olympics involving NHL players.
Crosby has now played 13 Olympic Games between his three total appearances at the competition, spanning from 2010 to 2026, while playing in vastly different roles throughout each of those competitions.
At 38 years old, this will likely be Crosby's final Olympic Games, meaning he has just a few opportunities left to rack up points and pass Iginla, placing himself firmly as the best Canadian NHLer at the Olympics.
Crosby's next opportunity to pass Iginla in the history books will come tomorrow as Canada takes on France with a face-off set for 10:40 a.m. Eastern.
